Money Follows the Person (MFP) Transitions Coordinator

Position - Full-Time Temporary January 2, 2023 through June 30, 2023 with Benefits
Salary Range - $53,500

Land of Sky Regional Council is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Money Follows the Person Transitions Coordinator to assist people with chronic conditions and disabilities in moving from institutions back into the community using community-based services and supports. The Transition Coordinator leads a participant and the planning team through a planning process and ensures the participant has the supports in place to live successfully in his or her community. Strong collaboration with other community partners is essential for quality transition planning. Prefer Medicaid, mental health, or aging experience. Bachelor's degree in public service administration, psychology, sociology, or social work or a human service programmatic field, from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution, and two years of administrative or consultative experience in a human service program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Counties to be served are in the central part of the state:  Forsyth, Davidson, Surry, Davie, Stokes, and Yadkin.  Work is remote with travel as needed to assist with transitions in the counties listed.

Regional Planner - Housing

Position - Full time with benefits
Salary Range - $49,976

Land of Sky Regional Council is currently seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented candidate for the position of Regional Planner.  This position has a housing focus, particularly in affordable and workforce options.

The Regional Planner provides professional rural, urban, and regional planning work for members of the COG in programs such as housing and related community infrastructure, and other planning projects. Work includes preparing grants; conducting planning studies and recommendations; analyzing data, ordinances, laws and policies and developing recommendations; evaluating programs and preparing and presenting reports; and providing technical assistance to the local government members. Projects will also include supporting public private partnerships to increase housing supply and options. Work requires thorough knowledge of the planning field and independent judgment and initiative in the performance of duties.

Position includes a wide project scope and the ability to balance short-term and long-term priorities is necessary. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at the federal, state, regional, local levels and with elected officials. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to lead various meetings and events, make presentations and answer questions at public or project meetings. Ability to prepare presentations and prepare or coordinate the preparation of charts, maps, graphs and other illustrative materials for communication to elected officials, the public and other stakeholders. Ability to perform a variety of duties including research, drafting plans and reports, grant development and administration, etc. Adaptability to changing priorities and projects desired. Experience in GIS, communications, marketing, graphic design, web design, event planning or logistics preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, social work, finance, or real estate related field required; Master’s degree and AICP a plus. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience in municipal, county or regional planning preferred but not required
  • Ability to communicate with general public, professional staff and elected/appointed officials in oral/written forms
  • Requires knowledge in project management, budget management, and supporting software, including the Microsoft and Google suites of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication, team leadership & management, fiscal tracking, problem solving and customer service
  • Excellent Excel skills to track and monitor budgets and deliverables
  • Business writing proficiency

Digital Navigator

Position - Part-time limited $20 per hour contract
Closing Date - First Review June 6, 2022

Land of Sky Regional Council’s WestNGN program seeks to contract for a Digital Navigator to help close the digital divide in Buncombe County. The Digital Navigator acts as a resource for individuals or small groups regarding connectivity services information, devices, and foundational digital skills to enable people to become effective internet users. The navigator will work in person and remotely to provide this assistance, depending on what works for each learner. This position is a key component in brining connectivity to citizens and addressing equity issues in Buncombe County. 

WestNGN Digital Navigator contract is a part-time limited $20 per hour contract. Work will vary from creating courses based on specific skills (ex. ZOOM usage, basic computer skills, google suite, etc) and working directly one-on-one with individuals.
