Who We Are:

To help fulfill the Council’s Mission, this department conducts planning, economic, and community development services for our local governments and communities. The goal of the department is to meet the needs and desires of our region now and into the future.

Land of Sky is the local economic development district for our region, providing access to a wide variety of expertise, partnerships, and funding streams.

What We Offer:

Professionally trained and experienced staff diligently strives to improve economic, environment, and social conditions in every program area and project. Services available to local governments and communities include quality facilitation, grant writing and management, project administration, data management, policy research and development, education, and training.

The newly released timeline and guidelines for the 2016 ARC Emerging Opportunities Grants are available. NC Commerce and ARC have extended the timeline to allow time for additional projects to be submitted.

· Pre-applications (2 page letter of intent) due to Erica Anderson – October 24, 2016
· Emerging Opportunities Pre-Applications due October 31, 2016.
· Full Applications invited November 10, 2016
· Full Applications due December 30, 2016
· Applications recommended to the Governor on January 19, 2017
· Project recommended to DC on January 26, 2017

Plug-In Electric Vehicle Plans Guide Readiness Efforts in Western North Carolina and Across the State:

The Asheville Area Plug-in Electric Vehicle Plan has been released to the public to support Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) readiness efforts in Western North Carolina.  Over the past year the Land of SkyClean Vehicles Coalition has worked with a broad group of stakeholders in the Asheville metro area to identify and address barriers to electric vehicle adoption.  The Asheville Area PEV Plan provides local governments, businesses, educators and other key partners with a roadmap of strategies to prepare the Asheville region for electric vehicles.
