Volunteer Advisory Council

The Senior Volunteer Services Advisory Council (SVSAC) serves in an advisory capacity to Land of Sky Regional Council in matters related to the two Senior Volunteer Programs - Foster Grandparent Program and Senior Companion Program. The SVSAC’s role is to:

Advise and support the volunteer program staff in the formation
of policy and the planning and development of operational procedures and practices consistent with federal guidelines for the three volunteer programs.
Promote community support for the volunteer programs in the areas of transportation and support services and assist in the development of local financial and in-kind resources.
Conduct an annual appraisal of the volunteer programs and submit a report on each to LOSRC.
Advise and support coordination with volunteer stations.
Promote constructive relationships with key individuals and agencies in Region B.
Help plan, implement and participate in volunteer recognition events.
Help publicize the volunteer program and assist in recruiting volunteers in Region B.
Advise, as requested by LOSRC, in the selection and deployment of staff, volunteer appeal procedures, and grant program development and renewal.

Meetings are held every other month beginning in January, 9 - 10:30 am at Land of Sky Regional Council's office.
