Mountain Mobility Transportation Specialist

Position - Full time with Benefits
Starting Salary - $44,000
Closing Date - September 29, 2023 

Land of Sky is seeking a Transportation Specialist to assist with Buncombe County’s community transportation service, Mountain Mobility, and to serve as the RIDE (Ridership Independence for the Disabled and Elderly) Program coordinator. The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance and customer service to potential passengers and current clients of both RIDE and Mountain Mobility. This position will explain services and programs, interpret grant funding regulations and be able to articulate them to the public. Additionally, the position will perform a number of administrative duties in support of the operations of Mountain Mobility. 

The preferred candidate will have excellent customer service skills; be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and comfortable learning new software/database programs. While a two-year degree from a community college or technical school is preferred, Land of Sky is committed to hiring the right candidate with the experience and skills to deliver high quality transportation services to our community. Regional Safe Routes to Schools Coordinator

Position - Full time with Benefits
Starting Salary - $50,000 - $60,000
Closing Date - September 12, 2023

Length of position: Two Years, with future funding pending.

The Regional Safe Routes to School Coordinator will help launch the Region’s first Safe Routes to School Task Force in partnership with local School Districts and relevant stakeholders. This effort will formally ally the School Districts of Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania counties with Land of Sky Regional Council’s French Broad River MPO and Land of Sky RPO and relevant stakeholders to educate school site administrators, parents, and students about pedestrian and bicycle safety; build multigenerational pedestrian and cyclist awareness; and mitigate traffic concerns by promoting a comprehensive, proactive behavior and infrastructure-based approach to securing safety along school routes and within school sites. This position requires an energetic self-starter with excellent communication, diplomacy and leadership skills, and commitment to contribute to making a safer place to bike and walk for students and adults alike.
