REGIONAL INTERCITY BUS TRANSPORTATION

*         You can ride the bus from Asheville to/from Black Mountain and Hendersonville and Waynesville.  Enhancements to Black Mountain and Hendersonville bus routes were made in December, 2002 to better meet peoples' needs.

 

Black Mountain:

Asheville Transit System Route #28 makes 5 round trips daily,
Monday through Saturday, between Asheville and Black Mountain.  The fare is $1.00 each way.   For schedule information, call 828-253-5691 or visit ashevilletransit.com.

     The schedule is designed to meet workers' needs as well as
     others' needs, with service between 5:50 am and
     10:30pm.
                               

 

Hendersonville:

Passengers can ride the Asheville Transit Bus #6 to the Airport for 75 cents, and transfer to the Apple Country Transit bus which travels through Fletcher to Hendersonville.  Passengers may stop anywhere along the routes.  Cost per ride on Apple Country Transit is $.50; tickets and annual passes  ($25) are also available.   Call 828-698-8571 for more information.
 

 

Waynesville and Haywood County:
The public transportation system in Haywood County is known as Haywood Public Transit (HPT) and is operated by Mountain Projects, Inc. (MPI), a private non-profit agency.  The system operates primarily on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Service on the weekends is provided as needed.  It transports people for medical, employment, nutrition, social, recreation, education, shopping and multiple purposes.  HPT has eleven fixed routes throughout the County and four demand-response vehicles.  The fare for a one-way trip for a member of the general public is $3.00.  For demand-response and out-of-county trips, the general public is charged $0.93 per mile.

Transportation services are provided primarily in Haywood County, however HPT carries passengers to medical appointments in Buncombe County and travels in/out of Jackson County five days a week.  HPT now also offers a regular route to and from Asheville for the general  public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  The fare is $4.00 each way and the schedule is:

Greyhound Lines, Inc.
Greyhound Lines operates twelve bus routes that pass through and stop in the region.  The buses on these routes stop in
Asheville, Hendersonville and Waynesville.  Greyhound buses do not stop in any other cities/towns in the region or between Hendersonville and Asheville, Waynesville and Asheville and Hendersonville and Greenville, SC.  There are no routes that go through Madison County, Weaverville, Woodfin or Brevard.  The one-way fare between Asheville-Hendersonville and Asheville-Waynesville is $8.00.  The round trip fare is $16.00.  One-way fare from Waynesville to Hendersonville
